Content Beauty's flagship store inhabits its landmark Marylebone retail site with a bespoke family of standout, eco-conscious furniture pieces.

Picture
Content Beauty is an established eco beauty and wellbeing brand who was keen to partner with an equally ethically minded team to design and fit-out their newly acquired flag ship store in central London. We worked closely with their founding director throughout the project to help uncover and develop design concepts, develop designs and deliver end results with efficiency and integrity.
Our scheme responded to the strict ethical ethos of the business and worked to display its varied product range including homeware, fashion and beauty with its other activities including events, treatment rooms and a juice bar! Together we created a transformation of a once grand retail unit which had slowly deteriorated over the years, unifying its busy high street glass frontage with its deep shop floor plan and dark basement areas which where previously given over to storage.

We worked closely with Content's founding director to assess both the needs of the business and the opportunities afforded by the new location, as well as looking at a wide range of design concepts featured in other stores across the world. The  resulting scheme retains the flexibility of the site and populates the space with a series of stand out pieces of display furniture built from reclaimed and specialist eco materials. The scheme leads clients and customers from busy street into a field retail space, then down into the lower ground events space and private therapy rooms beyond.
Delivered in a series of overlapping short sprints the main the shop floor was able to open ahead of the rest of the space and in time for a key trading season. With a fit out composed of flexible free standing elements which staff are able to regularly adjust to suit changing product lines and as they trial new ways of engaging their customers. The overall architectural composition allows for a range of uses to occur simultaneously, with the consultation and treatment rooms carefully separated both acoustically and visually from the hustle and bustle of the city streets and shop floor above.

We employed our creative yet practical approach to ensure every detail of the space spoke of the ethical values of the business. From wall and floor coverings to each individual piece of furniture ecologically sound materials were used and shown off. Eco paints, reclaimed timber and innovative new materials all came together in a family of characterful, flexible furniture pieces that work together to produce an internet, boutique shopping experience.
The scheme was developed along our signature architectural methodology: clearing back the build up of low quality finishes to reveal the grander of the original building; inserting high quality new infrastructure to service the new use; and populating with character-rich furniture that differentiates spaces and offers flexibility to the narrative of the environment.

At Content Beauty  every element of the space caries a sustainable story, making manifest the values of the business in every interaction.
